Haiti 2012

The global health program at rush university medical center travels to port-au-prince, haiti to administer medical care to the underserved communities. For 7 days in february 2012, i accompanied the medical staff while they treated patients in these communities in and around port-au-prince. During this time, they treated over 1,000 patients in 4 clinics. These clinics varied from urban areas, near the epicenter of the 2010 earthquake, to rural refuge camps just outside port-au-prince.

These images are just a small glimpse into the lives of the people of haiti. From the carefree smiles on the children faces, to the stoic gaze of the elderly that have seen so much, i hope you see the resilience and vibrant spirit they possess.

I would like to thank the people of haiti for letting me experience their country and culture. This was truly an eye opening and life changing experience that i will never forget. I would also like to thank the medical staff that i had the pleasure of accompanying on this journey. It was an amazing time, even if our journey was short.
